Get Involved in the NCFC Today!
The NCFC is committed to providing resources to communities seeking
to address forestry related issues. To do this we need the help
of many individuals and organizations with a wide range of expertise.
There are a number of ways in which you can get involved with the
NCFC.
Speakers Bureau Our advisory Council members are available
to represent us at meetings, conferences, and workshops, offered
by your community or organization. If you'd like to contact the
advisory council member closest to you click
here. Partners We are seeking partners throughout the Northern Forest Region
who share the vision of the National Community Forestry Center.
Partners are individuals, organizations or institutions working in the Northern
Forest to promote and support community forestry. Partners will
have the opportunity to engage in the work of the Center by:
- nominating rural residents to the regional advisory council
- suggesting communities for in-depth engagement
- participating in and cosponsoring workshops and conferences,
and other networking opportunities for partners
- responding to queries about potential topics for targeted research
- receiving Center reports, including updates on national activities
and activities at the other three regional centers
- being recognized on our website and in our literature
- having our help in spreading the word about your activities,
workshops, etc.
- directing clients and customers to the Center for assistance
and receiving Center referrals
If you are a decision-making authority for a potential partner
organization or institution, and you want to get involved, please

help rural people conduct and use research to inform decision-making
about forest resources. One of our goals is to honor the knowledge
rural people have about their own resource conditions. Another goal
is to facilitate transfer of research results from institutions
such as land grant universities to rural people in a useful manner.
A third goal is to bring researchers and rural people together to
conduct participatory research in communities.
If you or your organization identifies as a researcher, and if
you would like to be considered to either translate academic research
into information that can be useful to rural people or engage in
participatory research with rural people in their communities, please
Providers The Northern Forest Regional Community Forestry Center will provide
a referral service in response to specific requests by communities,
organizations, or individuals. If you have technical assistance
services and/or materials or curricula to offer, and would like
to be included in our database please click
here.
If you want to be involved and these do not seem to fit, please
contact us.
