Community Project Nomination Form
**** The
Center is accepting nominations on a rolling****
basis through early spring 2003.
The Center is committed to providing assistance to 3-5 communities a year for addressing forestry-related issues
or opportunities. Assistance may include, but is not limited to, capacity
building, technical assistance, training in research methods, and
links to researchers. Communities will be required to develop a
work plan with clear, measurable indicators of progress for the
year in which they will receive assistance. Funds are available
to hire a local coordinator to organize community members, provide
continuity and follow-through, complete administrative tasks, and
track progress according to the work plan. Please note, however,
that the NCFC is not a grant-making organization and will not provide
funds to directly support independent community projects. If you
are unsure if a particular community project will qualify, feel free to
contact our office.
*We use the term communities to include individual towns or
groups of towns united by common geography
Qualifications for Communities:
- Level of organization sufficient to develop and carry out a
year long plan of work,
- Identification of an issue or opportunity common to other communities
across the region and/or nation,
- Willingness to engage in participatory research in service of
more informed decision-making,
- Willingness to share results of the research process.
If you know of a community which meets these qualifications, please
fill out and submit this nomination form.
